Actress and singer Jennifer Hudson has had to work hard to portray a drug addict in her new film as the actress has never been drunk or high.
The 32-year old is starring in new film The Inevitable Defeat of Mister And Pete where she plays the mother of a nine year old boy.
Her character gets into trouble with the police while her son is left to fend for himself.
The Dreamgirls star said she found it difficult to gain inspiration for such a part when she has never been drunk or high in her life.

Jennifer has never gotten drunk
Jennifer found it difficult to relate to the addicts she met with during research for this role and had to rely on her imagination.
“I’m playing a heroin addict and I’ve been sober my entire life, so preparing for the role, I would see recovering addicts and they would describe their stories and explain to me…, ‘You know what it’s like when you’re drunk?’
“And I’m like, ‘God, I don’t know.’ Like, I had no clue and nothing to pull from,” the actress said.”
