Irish Pensioner James Gray ‘Overwhelmed’ At The Amount Of Christmas Cards And Invites

The season of goodwill

Cathy Donohue

Here at Her.ie we were delighted to see such a fantastic response to the story we featured yesterday on James Gray, the pensioner who placed an advert in a bid to avoid his tenth Christmas alone.

We received numerous emails and tweets inviting Mr Gray for Christmas Day and wishing him well, as did the other publications that ran the story.

The 85-year-old got in touch with the Irish Post earlier this month and this led to major broadcasters and publications joining the Irish Post campaign to find James a Christmas companion.

There has been messages of support and invites to Christmas dinner from thousands of readers.

Mr Gray, who originally hails from Midleton, Co Cork,  said he is looking forward to receiving his first Christmas cards in years.

“I did not get a single card for my birthday in August, but I just had to put up with it,” he said.

If you would like to send Mr Gray a Christmas card ,The Irish Post is now collecting cards to pass on to him.

Please send it to: ‘Mr James Gray’ c/o The Irish Post, Suite A, 1 Lindsey Street, Smithfield, London EC1A 9HP, UK.
