Matthew Wright is the first contestant to feel the strain of this year’s reality show I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
Journalist and television presenter Wright shed tears over a family tragedy; his 16-year-old nephew died in a car crash in 2010, months after acting as Wright’s best man.
48-year-old Matthew broke down on Day 1 of bush camp as he fumbled in a box full of critters for the first Bushtucker Trial – the Turntable Of Terror.

Matthew is finding the initial stages of the show difficult
A show insider said: “Matthew was visibly shaking and had to be consoled by Kian [Egan], even before the trial.
“Then as soon as he’d finished it he began sobbing. The tears were rolling down his cheeks, so he ran off to the toilet to sort himself out.”
Matthew’s nephew Max Keevill died just five months after Matthew’s wedding to wife Amelia.
Before going on the show the journalist said: “He loved the outdoors so obviously going into the jungle will be very poignant and I just hope I can do him proud. I think about him every day.
“He died just after Christmas so that will obviously be on my mind as we approach the festive season. He would have loved the fact I was doing I’m A Celebrity.”
Amelia said: “I know Max will be looking over Matthew and urging him to do brilliantly. That will keep Matthew going when it gets tough.”
She added: “I think people will be surprised when they see Matthew on I’m A Celebrity.”
“They see this sharp-tongued journalist in a sharp suit. But he’s much deeper, extremely thoughtful and supportive of other people.”
