Singer Joe McElderry has plans to branch into acting and thinks a soap role would suit him perfectly.
Joe, who won the X Factor in 2009, said that he would “love to do a soap” during a recent interview with Digital Spy.
He said: “I’d love to do a soap – I think that would be fun. But I would always do it alongside singing because I think I’d miss the singing too much.
“But I’d definitely consider it, I’d love to do a little role in something”.
Joe would like to try his hand at acting
“I do enjoy acting,” he continued. “I suppose I act a little bit through performing songs, and I think as you’re doing panto and stuff and learning how to ad-lib on the spot – that’s been a great lesson in terms of drama.”.
When asked what soap he would like to star in, Joe, who hails from South Shields, said that he would have to veto Eastenders as he didn’t have the accent perfected.
“I think I could do Emmerdale or Coronation Street. Somehow I don’t think I’ve got the accent for EastEnders, so I’ll leave that to the southerners!”
Joe is currently touring the UK with theatre production Evolution but it sounds like he could be on our TV screens very soon.
