Father Ted actor Frank Kelly has revealed that he will undergo treatment for skin cancer in the New Year.
75-year-old Kelly, best known for playing the role of loveable rogue Fr Jack on the hit Channel 4 series, previously battled bowel cancer and received the all-clear from doctors in 2011.
Kelly told the Irish Sun, “I’m having a little procedure for two little skin cancers”,
“They are the kind of thing swimmers get as a kid and take a lifetime to grow. It’s really from being in the sun.
“They blast them off. You don’t even stay in hospital overnight”, he continued.
“They don’t leave a scar behind either, such is the wonders of modern medicine. I will be available for work the day after”.
‘A Christmassy Ted’ has been televised every year since 1996.
Kelly also revealed that he looks forward to watching the Father Ted Christmas Special once again this year.
“It just makes me happy to see it on TV every Christmas,” he said.
“There was a great happy atmosphere on the set, among the actors and cast, and the show is like a photograph of that.
“Poor Dermot is no longer with us but what fabulous work he left behind”.
