Ellen Page made her first public appearance with her girlfriend Samantha Thomas this weekend, ahead of the film premiere of Ellen’s next film ‘Freeheld’.
Walking the red carpet at the Toronto Film Festival, the star was asked why she had chosen that night to debut her new relationship.
In the sweetest reply ever, Ellen told E! News:
“I’m in love.
“Walking down the carpet holding my girlfriend’s hand is pretty special. It’s pretty awesome.”
The ‘Inception’ star came out 18 months ago, coming out in a profound speech at the stage at the Human Rights Campaign’s Time to Thrive conference in Las Vegas:
“You’re here because you have adopted as a core motivation the simple fact that this world would be a whole lot better if we just made an effort to be less horrible to one another.
“I am here today because I am gay.”

Samantha, who is also Canadian, is an artist and surfer.
The pair are believed to have been dating for several months.
