EastEnders actor Khali Best was suspended from the soap after he attacked a taxi driver.

The 26-year-old star, who plays Dexter Hartman, was given a three-month ban earlier this year and now it has been revealed that it was because of an incident involving a taxi driver.

At the time, a spokesperson for the show confirmed the suspension but commented no further on the incident. The taxi driver, Peter Callow, has now spoken out about the attack which allegedly happened after Best refused to pay a £61 fare.

He told The Sun on Sunday: “He said he had no money… He asked me to take him to a cash machine. I told him if he had a card he could put it into the machine I had in the cab but he wasn’t having any of it.

“He then said, ‘No, no, no’ and with that he started kicking the car door. I got round to stop him doing it and he managed to open the door and thumped me… I was absolutely dazed. I was bleeding. He gave me a black eye and broke my glasses”.

According to reports, Best accepted a police caution for common assault and criminal damage following the incident which took place in March.
