He may have a license to kill as James Bond, but Daniel Craig has now been bestowed with a ‘license to save’ by the United Nations.
The English actor has become the first global advocate for the elimination of mines and explosive hazards.
“You have been given a licence to kill [as James Bond],” said United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at the UN headquarters in New York this week.

“I’m now giving you a licence to save,” he continued.
The James Bond star’s new role will see him raising awareness for the United Nations Mine Action Service over the next three years.

“I am honoured to accept this role,” he stated. “I’m humbled that I will get the chance to work next to people who are risking their lives every day to help ordinary people live ordinary lives. I will do my very best.”
