There have been rumours circulating over the last couple of weeks that Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones had separated and would be announcing the news to the press.
Today, August 28th, the couple’s publicist confirmed to BBC that Michael and Catherine were taking a break from their marriage.
The publicist confirmed that the pair are “taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage”.
Initially, the pair had refused to talk about the split and a source close to Catherine and Michael said that “divorce would be the final straw”.
Zeta-Jones and Douglas have not been photographed since April of this year and have reportedly been taking holidays separately.
The couple have gone through a lot in the past couple of years; Douglas underwent treatment for throat cancer while Zeta-Jones checked into a facility for bipolar treatment in April.
Douglas and Zeta-Jones have been married for 13 years and have two children together, Dylan and Carys.
