There was so much going on at the VMA’s on Sunday night that our brains nearly exploded from all the gossip. Besides that Miley moment, there was another really interesting incident between Taylor Swift and One Direction.
While the band appeared on stage to accept their award for Song of the Summer, Taylor appeared to mouth “shut the f**k up” while Louis and Harry were talking. On top of that, she didn’t let the moment she won an award pass without having a go at the person who “inspired” it: “I also want to thank the person that inspired this song, and he knows exactly who he is, because I got one of these!”
Initially, everyone thought that the song was inspired by her romance with Jake Gyllenhaal, but when the cameras spun around to catch One Direction’s reaction, it hinted that Harry Styles, as we thought, was the inspiration behind it.
However, according to Us Weekly, One Direction were not best impressed with Taylor’s antics on the night. When the magazine spoke to the boy band on the red carpet for the premiere of their new film This Is Us in New York, they were firmly siding with Harry.
“We were a bit confused,” Louis Tomlinson commented. “We thought she was actually calling out Niall so the whole thing’s a bit confusing.”
Liam Payne added, “I just thought it was a bit not needed. I mean, you just won an award, it’s like, concentrate on yourself!”
However, our favourite comment came from Harry, who didn’t mention the Taylor incident but focused on Miley: “I thought it was very reserved. I thought she was very, you know, timid. She’s quite shy. I think she needs to come out of her shell a bit more.”
