It’s been a rollercoaster of a year for Strictly winner Caroline Flack, following the end of her time with the Xtra Factor and splitting up with her boyfriend Jack Street, and now she has spoken out about the tough time.
Speaking after winning the glitterball trophy over the weekend, Caroline admitted that this year has been “very testing” but added that dancing and her role in Strictly has help her to cope .
“I’m not very good with words weirdly,” she told the Daily Mirror. “I speak for a living, but I’m not very good at talking about my emotions.
“What Pasha has taught me is that you can express it by dancing – it’s been a real outlet. You don’t feel bad when you’re dancing,” she continued.
“You can’t feel unhappy – it’s impossible. It’s a natural way to release endorphins and feel good.”
Reflecting back on Saturday night’s performances which saw her crowned the winner for 2014 she said, “I think it might have been a whole year’s worth of emotions put into a minute and a half of showdance.
“It’s amazing to end it on a high like this,” she added. “It’s been an interesting year, but it’s been very testing in a lot of ways.”
She also stated that her dance partner Pasha was a massive help to her.
“I believe in myself a lot more,” she said. “I feel a lot more confident. Pasha’s changed me more than Strictly. I’m such a worrier about everything and he’s the opposite. So he rationalises a lot of things that I think and worry about. He levels out my thoughts for me.”
Caroline was the only contestant in the history of the show to get 40 marks for each of her dances.
“I have no regrets about doing Strictly,” she continued. “This is the biggest achievement of my life.”
