According to Hypertrak, Beyonce is taking a company called Feyoncé to court. The company sells t-shirts, mugs and other types of merchandise with the word ‘Feyoncé’ on it.

The products are targeted at people who are engaged.

You can probably guess why she’s taking them to court. Their name bears a striking resemblance to her name. They’ve also used some of her lyrics on their products.

The lawsuit states:

“Defendants adopted the Feyoncé mark to call to mind Beyonce and her famous song. Defendants’ conduct described herein is intentional, fraudulent, malicious, willful and wanton.

“Seeking to capitalize on the notoriety of Single Ladies with its famous line ‘put a ring on it,’ Defendants are selling merchandise bearing the ‘FEYONCÉ’ mark — a misspelling of ‘fiancé’ intended to call to mind Beyoncé and her famous song.

“Some of Defendants’ merchandise even bear the lyrics ‘put a ring on it’ further solidifying the connection between Beyoncé and the unauthorized products.”
