Two weeks ago they announced their engagement but it’s only now that Benedict Cumberbatch and his fiancé, actress and director Sophie Hunter, have made their first red carpet appearance together.
The couple, who revealed in The Times newspaper earlier this month that they are set to tie the knot, stepped out in New York City this week for the premiere of his new film The Imitation Game.
In it the actor plays mathematician Alan Turing, a performance for which he has already received critical acclaim and an award (he won Leading Actor at the Hollywood Film Awards on Friday).
At the event the Sherlock star told E! News that it is nice to have a loyal fanbase before adding: “The only support I really need to be honest is the woman I love who I proposed to.”
