At the moment an orange alert has been issued nationwide from Met Éireann, updated this morning at 5:31.
According to the Met Éireann website, this new status update means that weather conditions will be “very windy with severe gusts early this morning.

The southwesterly winds will ease a little later in the morning, although they will still remain strong right through the rest of the day.
Otherwise the day will be cold and bright with heavy wintry showers, more frequent in the west of the country. Highest temperatures of 4 or 5 degrees.”
Things looks set to improve from tonight according to the national forecaster, “Becoming less windy tonight with good clear spells in many parts of the country as showers become isolated. Cold and very frosty with lowest temperatures of -1 to +2degrees.”
Motorists are advised to take extra caution on the roads as there have been reports of fallen debris in places.
