Be Careful Out There – A Red Weather Warning Has Been Issued By Met Éireann

It's going to get very windy indeed

Met  Éireann hav issued a red weather warning for much of Connacht and Donegal too with predicted wind speeds of 70 to 90km/h and damaging gusts of 120 to 150km/h.

Issued at 9am this morning, the Red alert is valid from 3pm today until 3am tomorrow morning when the winds are expected to be at their worst.

The issue of a RED level severe weather warning implies that recipients take action to protect themselves and/or their properties; this could be by moving their families out of the danger zone temporarily; by staying indoors; or by other specific actions aimed at mitigating the effects of the weather conditions.

An orange alert has been issued for Cavan and Clare predicting, “Very windy later this afternoon and evening with very strong and blustery south veering southwest winds and gusts of 90 to 100km/h. Valid 1500h to 2400h.”

Bad weather has been forecast for this week

The issue of an Orange level weather warning implies that all recipients in the affected areas should prepare themselves in an appropriate way for the anticipated conditions.

The remainder of this week is expected to be mixed, with heavy rain tonight and Friday.
