It's a bargain really.

One Direction singer Louis Tomilson has come up with a novel way to raise funds for Doncaster Rovers – by charging fans £250 each for a selfie with the star.

The 22-year-old, who completed a takeover deal with the club with cosmetic surgery magnate John Ryan last week, said the pair are hoping to raise £2 million from supporters as part of their crowdfunding project.

It seems the club have already had a spike in interest since last season, but they’re of the adoring teenage girl variety. The club reported an attendance of 4,000 fans at their last reserve team fixture – a boost of 3,900 of the side’s usual fan turnout.

The latest offering to build funds for the club saw the Tomilson Ryan Trust offer fans who bid £250 or more the chance to “grab a selfie with Louis” before a home game. The price also includes a match ticket.

So what else is on offer from the bidding wars?

Fans who part with £500 can have their picture taken with Tomlinson and the rest of the first team squad for the traditional pre-season photo, with anyone pledging at least £10,000 being given the chance to enter a five-a-side tournament competing alongside the One Direction singer “and his celebrity pals”.

The most expensive offer, which so far has one backer, is for a VIP box at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium. This prize will allow 12 people to watch a home match from the box, and will include a “ten-minute chat” with Tomlinson.
