TipperZ is one of the newest pursuits for entrepreneurial brothers David and Michael McDonnell, which encourages children to take notes and draw on paper alongside their tablet devices.
Converting everyday pens and pencils into digital touch pens, TipperZ allow children to play on the TipperZ game app, while also using traditional elements of drawing and writing alongside the app on paper.
The flying game, which allows players to explore the school as Tipper and Pippa, include memory testing and collecting games, while also encouraging the children to interact with their app by using their TipperZ pens.
The product was designed to easily transform existing pen and pencil ranges into touchpens that can be used on billions of tablets and smartphone devices, while also encouraging children to write both on touchscreen and paper, as more traditionally associated with children when growing up.

With their first venture into market under CloudyStar, TipperZ is an affordable educational tool for children. The team are now hoping to reach an order of 10,000 units on both styles of the TipperZ product – TipperZ silicone tips and TipperZ rubber tips for pens and pencils.
The concept was brought to life by the brothers under CloudyStar Ltd. The have since entered the Kickstarter programme to fundraise for the development of TipperZ.
The idea stemmed from scientific proof that children who take notes with a pen or pencil on paper or tablet device retain more information than just using a finger to point.
David and Michael saw an opportunity to bring digital innovation to the stationary industry, combining the drawing values that they had experienced growing up with the new digital age of tablets and smartphones.
Entrepreneurs from an early age, the pair won their first award awards in their early teens before going on to successfully run start-up companies in both Ireland and Australia.
Having both trained as architectural technologists, the brothers have now set up CloudyStar – an in-house product design and development company.
