If you love your Whatsapp, chances are this is the news you’ve been waiting for…

No more hiding your phone under your desk to check your messages, because the app is now available on your computer.

If you’ve grown bored of Facebook msgs, or can’t send a Twitter DM, then this might be just what you’ve been waiting for.

Releasing a statement yesterday, WhatsApp revealed:

“Today, for the first time, millions of you will have the ability to use WhatsApp on your web browser. Our web client is simply an extension of your phone: the web browser mirrors conversations and messages from your mobile device – this means all of your messages still live on your phone.”

So how can you start chatting from your desktop?

First of all you need the most recent version of Google Chrome browser, and then simply visit the site here.

The user will see a QR code which you can scan via WhatsApp on your personal phone to activate your service. Then it’s a case of happy typing.

There are two downsides to the latest development of the app – your phone needs to be connected to the internet to activate the online version, and anyone using an Apple product (so a huge chunk of people) won’t be able to use the site “due to Apple platform limitations.”

For those who can though, prepare to start bombarding those monkey emojis to every contact on your hit-list…
