So there’s a whole new facial on the market, and we really don’t know how we feel about it.
We’ve all heard the positives of starting your baby off on your boob, and how ‘breast is best’ but now it’s being touted as the beauty regime we need to smother over our faces.
Yes, ladies, breast milk.
The new Breathe Facial is the brainchild of a Chicago based salon, where you can choose to add $10 to your bill for the reinvigorating treatment.
According to Metro UK, facial bar owner Shama Patel believes the milk’s properties will help heal broken skin, saying:
‘A lot of women use breast milk to calm irritations and heal small cuts on their children’s skin—and their own.’
The salon owner explains how lauric acid (which is found in breast milk), has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which will help calm the skin.
Adding the breast milk to a clay base, the formula is then massaged over the skin for several minutes to help east ‘sun burn, eczema, wrinkles and making the skin’s overall appearance smoother’.
So where are they sourcing their breast milk?
Well naturally only from the best. Or you know local mums who have registered with a certified breast milk bank. The salon also assure customers that the donors eat organic and are mostly vegan.
Considering there’s already been breast milk ice-cream, it wasn’t going to be long before it seeped into our beauty rituals.
