Confusing much.
There’s a lot of conflicting ideas on what exactly makes great hair and we’ve set out to get to the bottom of some of the most talked about hair myths.
From using dry shampoo to making fine hair thick to how clarifying shampoo works, here’s what we’ve found out.
Can fine-haired girls get lasting curls?
If you have fine hair, you’ll know that getting your curls to last isn’t the easiest of tasks. However, it is possible provided you have the right tools and products to hand.
Although mousse is associated with big 80s inspired hair, it’s also the key to getting those curls to last for longer.
The ‘fixatives’ contained in mousse help to temporarily thicken your hair and it also serves as a method of keeping your hair in place which helps the style to last for longer.

We need our hair to look like this!
Of course, an important step here is choosing the right type of mousse.
Rather than opting for something which makes your locks rock-hard, you need to choose a light-weight formula.
We’re currently crushing on TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Mousse (€6.84), because it’s long-lasting, the ‘Fleximax Volumisers’ add body and having tried it, we can report that your hair stays soft after use.
Is dry shampoo damaging your hair?
Yes and no.
Lately, stylists and colourists have been vocal about how overuse of dry shampoo can have adverse effects.
If your hair is coloured it can lend a dull effect, it can also cause product build-up and if you rely on it too heavily, then your scalp could become irritated.
The key here is to cut down on the amount of time you’re using it.
There’s no problem in using it sporadically to freshen your style in between washes but it’s not a product you should rely on day to day.

Because Beyoncé’s hair is A-MAZ-ING…
Does clarifying shampoo work?
We hear so much about new hair care ranges and different technologies that it can be VERY hard to discern what actually works.
Thankfully, clarifying shampoo is one of the products that does what it says on the bottle.
We mentioned product build-up above and if you’re suffering from this particular dilemma (where your hair feels stiff and sticky) then clarifying shampoo is a must.
However, prevention is better than cure and the best way to avoid this hair mare is to find home care products that work for you.
We recently discovered TRESemmé ‘Reverse The Routine’ and it’s all about changing how you wash your hair.
The Beauty-Full Volume Pre-Wash Conditioner preps the hair pre-shampoo and removes that horrible residue, leaving your locks smooth and soft.
