Hairbrush highlighting.
Imagine if you could veto salon visits and just do your own highlights at home, with your hairbrush.
Beauty blogger Huda Kattan has posted a series of Instagram videos demonstrating ‘hairbrush highlights’ and the sun-kissed effect is surprisingly fab.
The new trend even gets the expert seal of approval from New York-based colourist Dana Ionato.
Interesting way to do highlights ??? @basharhairstyles #hudabeauty
Speaking to Allure, Dana said: “This way of creating ombré highlights could work, as long as the saturation of the dye on the brush is even.
“Using a brush eliminates the possibility of your hand pressing down too hard on the strands of hair when applying the highlights. A brush will give a faster, more natural-looking ombré instead of a hard and heavily saturated look.
“I’ve seen this done in Sweden, and I often apply ombré highlights with a comb for more even distribution”.
However, instead of using a round brush as used in the video, Dana recommends a paddle brush which is less likely to get stuck in the hair during colour application.
Quick ombre application ??? repost @brian_champagne ❤️ #hudabeauty
