There’s been a crazy amount of hair colour trends this year: rainbow roots, oil-slick hair, opal locks, glitter roots and smokestack locks to name but a few.
People are loving them with the various trends circulating on Instagram but if you’re planning on a radical change, there’s one tip you should really keep in mind.
Aura Friedman is a stylist at the Sally Hershberger salon in New York City and her Instagram account is a must if you’re a fan of hair trends.
She spoke to Pop Sugar recently and said that when you’re thinking of trying the rainbow hair trend for example, you need to plan it properly.
“You have to plan your colors so they work together. Think of the color wheel in your elementary art class, then select what is near each other: greens and blues, reds and pinks, and so on” said the expert.
If you don’t choose colours which complement each other, then you’ll end up with a “muddy grey” look.
“Otherwise, the colors will neutralize each other and turn the whole thing muddy and grey” she continued.
