Getting a little ‘me’ time in is vitally important for your well-being. You work hard, so you deserve some time to feel pampered and relaxed. The only thing is, a visit to the salon can cost a small fortune, and you don’t need to add money worries to your list of woes. Never mind, you can have the perfect pampering evening in the comfort of your own home, using items that are probably in your kitchen cupboards anyway! Here are five treatments to try out this week.

Treat Your Feet with Olive Oil

Rub olive oil into dry, cracked feet before bed then cover them with socks for an overnight softening treatment. Mimic the pros and keep cuticles healthy by soaking nails in olive oil during your next at-home manicure.

Let Your Lips Do The Talking

The changes in weather and central heating can play havoc with your lips. Get rid of dead skin by making a simple scrub of petroleum jelly and sugar, apply and gently rub with a washcloth to take off the flaky layers and leave your pout looking perfect.

Scrub It Up, Honey…

Exfoliating the skin is one of the most important beauty treatments for all skin types. This brown sugar scrub is particularly effective at removing dead cells, dirt, sebum and pore impurities. Brown sugar is one of the mildest natural exfoliators. Simply mix together 3 teaspoons of brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of honey in a bowl. Apply the paste all over the face, using gentle circular motions to scrub. Wait for the scrub to dry for approx 15 minutes, then wash off with cold water and pat the face dry.

Get Rid of Your Baggage…

If puffy eyes and dark circles are your problem then an old fashioned cuppa might be the solution. Soak some green tea teabags then place in the fridge. Once cooled, lie down and place the teabags on your eyes. The caffeine will help to shrink the appearance of blood vessels and reduce puffiness. As another option, raw potatoes will do the same thing.

Go Coconuts for Silky Hair

Invest in come coconut oil and save yourself a fortune on various lotions and potions. This supermodel favourite has a wealth of different uses, but one of our favourites is as a deep conditioner for unruly tresses. Coat your hair after a wash, then wrap in a warm towel and leave it to do its magic for an hour, or apply to dry hair and leave in overnight. Wash out and enjoy your new luscious locks.
