Unfortunately not many of us are blessed with locks so luscious they rouse deep feelings of envy in women all around the world. We’re looking at you, Blake Lively.
So for the rest of us who need a bit of help in the hair department, the latest news from L’Oréal Paris is very interesting indeed.
The haircare giant has turned to the glass industry to explore the science behind making hair thicker. Now this might sound like a hairbrained idea, but go with us for a minute.
According to the L’Oréal Paris, filloxane, an ingredient used in the brand’s Elvive Fibrology range, works in the same way silica gel is used to fix cracks in car windscreens to thicken our hair. Similar to silica gel, filloxane works its way into hair cuticles to expand and strengthen the hair from the inside out.
The technicians at L’Oréal Paris have been working on this for the past 17 years so they’ve had plenty of time to mullet over. Ahem.
The Elvive Fibrology range features a thickening shampoo and conditioner, a thickness booster and a mask. The thickness booster contains the highest percentage of filloxane at five per cent.
L’Oréal Paris says the hair reaches its maximum thickness after ten uses, and the effect lasts for five to ten washes after that.
We know that we’ll be trying out the range. And then we’ll be doing this. Lots of this.
