Irish Hairdressers to Be Honoured By Awards Next Month

Forget the Oscars and the Soap Awards, the annual Irish Hairdressing Business Awards are here!

We go to them for special occasions, trust them with one of the most important parts of our body and always ask their opinion.

But next month our favourite hairdressers from across Ireland and Northern Ireland won’t be cutting off split ends, they’ll be battling it out in this year’s Schwarzkopf Irish Hairdressing Business Awards (IHBA).

The nominees have just been announced today for the awards which are due to take place in the Mansion House on October 22. The IHBA, which are considered to be the Academy Awards of the hairdressing industry, focus on the business structures that lie behind the most successful and innovative salons across the country.

Speaking about the ceremony Lee Bradshaw, Schwarzkopf’s national Sales Manager and Director of the IHBA said: “Hairdressing Salons have been one of the hardest hit sectors in this recession… In order for Irish salons to survive and continue to grow, they have had to be innovative and clear in their business strategy with a strong and consistent vision for marketing and customer service.

“The Schwarzkopf Awards are positively received each year by the industry, as it provides an opportunity for those involved to show not just their creative prowess, but their strong business skills,” he added.

There are a number of awards up for grabs on the night including Website of the Year and National Salon of the Year. This year’s nominees include House of Colour in Dublin, Hype Hair in Waterford and Hue Hair Salon in Donegal among many others.

Dylan Bradshaw who owns the Dylan Bradshaw Salon chain and has taken home the title of Salon of the Year three times previously explains what the awards mean to those working in the profession.

Dylan Bradshaw has picked up three awards from previous years.

He said: “The Awards are a fantastic opportunity for us as an industry to show the level of work that goes on behind the scenes… (they) recognise the long-term investment, and commitment that Irish salons are making to their businesses.”

While we couldn’t possibly guess as to who will be making their acceptance speeches on the night, we do know that we wouldn’t be able to function without our local salon!
