Last year’s highly anticipated event saw over 300 seasoned stylists take to the competition floor to create more than 500 cutting edge looks. These unique entries were then presented to a judging panel of leading industry experts who marked on originality, creativeness and precision. There are 14 individual competition categories; Full Fashion, Creative Fantasy, Classic Bridal and Creative Colour and the overall IHF Hairdresser of the Year, IHF Barber/Men’s Hairdresser of the Year 2014 will be selected.

Previous winners have gone on to become international success stories, invited to both compete and showcase their exceptional talent among the best in the world.  Last year’s Barber of the Year 2013, Paul Donnelly, went on to become a juror with the largest professional hairstylist’s organisation in the world the OMC (Organisation Mondial Coiffure).  Others have advanced in the business by working as ambassadors for the world’s leading hair brands such as; Alan Keville for Alfaparf Milan and David Murray for JOICO.

At last year’s championships, the very first ‘IHF  Star Team’ competition was launched. This project aims to guide talented young hairdressers in the pursuit of excellence, with industry legends on hand to mentor them as they enjoy the benefits of a 12 month education programme which includes photo shoots, catwalk shows and hair events both nationally and internationally.

The Irish Hairdressing Championships are proudly supported by Wella Professionals, ALFAPARF; GROH, L’Oreal Professional; Revlon Professional, Schwarzkopf Professional.
