As most of us know, finding the perfect foundation is often a case of trial and error.
There are a number of things that can and do go wrong: the shade that’s a tad orange for your colouring, sloppy tide marks that just won’t blend and as for trying to find a product that will actually last the day… it ain’t easy.
Boys don’t know how lucky they have it, do they?!
Here are our picks.
For a night on the town or anytime I need long-lasting cover, I’ve yet to find a better option than MAC’s Studio Fix. However, I hate feeling like I’m wearing a lot of makeup so for day-to-day use my go-to foundation is Benefit’s Hello Flawless Oxegen Wow.
The oil-free formula offers light coverage and leaves skin looking radiant. It boats SPF 25 too, which is important all year round – no matter how little sunshine we see here!
Nine shades mean there’s a good chance you’ll find the perfect match for your skintone, and the hydrating formula means your skin always looks healthy and fresh. A little goes a long way, so for me it’s worth the €34 price tag.

I don’t like to look like I’m wearing a lot of makeup and I have very sensitive skin so I would say that I’m quite fussy when it comes to finding a foundation but Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation SPF15 (€39.50) is by far my favourite.
It gives you an even finish and stays on all day without looking heavy. It makes my skin feel hydrated and healthy (as someone who is prone to spots and dryness, that’s a huge thumbs-up). I wear it every day and can even take it with me on holidays.
In other words, it’s perfect.

Although I don’t use foundation, I do wear Color Correction cream everyday. I use Clinique’s Moisture Surge CC crea (€35) and I love it because I don’t like how heavy foundation can be and my main skin concern is dullness so that does the job.
This one feels like tinted moisturizer but still gives me a really good coverage and it has SPF too so that’s nice.

Foundation is one of my sore points when buying make-up. I’m naturally very pale with sensitive skin, and even the lightest shades in a brand’s range tend to look orange or cause me to break out.
I find the best for my skin is L’Oréal Paris True Match foundation in Rose Ivory (€12.29). It blends into my skin (leaving no tide marks!) and never feels heavy or caked on. It also gives great coverage for days where your skin is fighting off the blemishes.

If you’re looking for foundation that’s going to last ages then look no further than Mac’s Pro Longwear SPF 10 Foundation 30ML (€36.50) . I use the NC15 myself because of my skin tone, it’s lightweight and has a creamy texture.
Your skin doesn’t feel bogged down and I find that it actually gives you a fresher feeling.

Foundation is not an easy thing to buy. What might look good in the comfort of your bedroom does not translate to natural daylight or worse still, the glaring unflattering beams that are found in most nightclubs around 2am.
However, Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H Wear (€37.50) is as near to perfect as you’re going to get. It’s long lasting, which is always an advantage, and even though it’s a matte foundation there’s still a lovely velvet finish.
With an added SPF15 to protect the skin, this is definitely my favourite at the moment. That said, I’m a divil for changing products.

While Estee Lauder Double Wear (€35) may be a bit heavy for some as a daytime foundation, I have yet to find another formula that will last from first thing in the morning until I get home at night.
If you are a fan of going straight from desk to dancing, I would definitely recommend! For a more glowy look, add a little highlighter to the foundation before application.
Rimmel Match Perfection (€9.95) is a great everyday foundation, with moderate coverage it gives the skin a nice radiant glow.
Match Perfection is one of Rimmel’s many foundation ranges however the first to match the consumer’s skin tone and works particularly for those who have paler skin.
Reliable and affordable, Match Perfection is my go-to and also boasts a ‘skin tone adapting concealer’, highlighter and concealer all in one.
