Has Michelle Obama Been Taking Beauty Advice From Kate Middleton?

First lady is bang-on-trend on her birthday...

We’re massive fans of Michelle and love how she always manages to look chic and polished yet utterly modern at stuffy political events.

From rocking  a greige nail to her penchant for colour pop lipsticks, the First Lady obviously keeps a close eye on the latest trends and yesterday showed off one of Autumn Winter’s biggest beauty looks – a choppy fringe.

And she’s not the only one who’s getting in on the act. Late last year, K-Middy showed off a 70s inspired side-swept do and Kim Kardashian infamously caused a Twitter frenzy when she tried to pass off a clip-on fringe as her own – she later had to come clean to followers that the bangs were fake –  and we have to say, we’re kind of tempted to give our tresses a mini-makeover.

So why are so many celebs going for the chop?

As well as being a versatile way of giving your usual do a new lease of life without having to get rid of length or change the colour, a fringe will also hide a multitude of sins (ahem, wrinkles) and is supposed to give older ladies a more youthful appearance.

So what do you need to know before you take the plunge? This season’s fringe is soft and choppy but it’s thick too so avoid anything too wispy. If you’re going to go for it, go for it! If you don’t like it, you can always grow it out or pin it back but if Michelle’s new do is anything to go by, we have a feeling the fringe is something you won’t regret.
