From Gelish to Shellac, you can’t beat a three-week manicure.
No matter what nail varnish brands claim to say, most will chip within a day or two. Even if you’ve gone through the laborious process of applying an undercoat, two coats or colour, finished off with a shiny top coat, to really get at least a week out of your manicure, something more heavy duty is needed.
But, the worst part about a three-week manicure has to be the removal process. As your polish starts to chip and get raggedy around the edges, the temptation to pick the rest of the colour off is unbelievably tempting, even though you know you’re wrecking your nails. And, the worst part of all is that you have to return to the salon or nail bar to get them to soak the colour off, not very convenient during the working week.
So is there a DIY alternative? Thankfully, yes!
To remove your three-week manicure you’ll need the following:
- Nail polish remover that contains Acetone
- Cotton makeup remover pads
- Tinfoil
Method:
- Start by cutting the tinfoil into strips that can be wrapped around your nail.
- Next, cut the cotton pads into rectangles, slightly larger in size than your nails.
- Then, pour the Acetone nail polish remover into a small bowl and soak the cotton pads.
- Finally, place the cotton pad on your nail and wrap the tinfoil strips around your finger, making sure the cotton pad is completely covered.
- Then all you have to do is sit back and relax for ten minutes while your futuristic looking fingertips start to work their magic.
- Once the ten minutes are up, remove the foils, carefully peel off the polish and file your nails with a smooth file.
Et voila! Naked nails just crying out for a fresh coat of colour.
