Really though?
If you’re someone who washes your hair every day, you might be surprised to learn that brown-haired ladies should limit hair-washing to twice a week.
You might scoff at the above BUT the advice comes from colourist to the stars, Shah Karegar, who recently treated Irina Shayk and Barbara Fialho’s hair for the Victoria’s Secret show.
Chatting to Pop Sugar, the expert explained the reasoning behind his theory:
“Try not to shampoo it more than twice a week.
“The reason why a lot of brunettes get mousy is because their hair is dehydrated, whether it’s from the sun or being shampooed quite often.”
Karegar had another tip for brunette gals to get the shiny, soft, smooth hair of their dreams.
It’s relatively easy and you might already be doing so. However if not, you’ll absolutely want to start hydrating your hair with a high-quality conditioner.
As you’re aware, conditioner should be used after shampoo every time you wash your locks but when you want to give your hair some extra TLC, a hair masque is key.
My current fave is Joico K-Pak Revitaluxe, €22.50, as it hydrates but also strengthens, nourishes and restores hair.

If you’re in the habit of washing your hair every day or more than twice a week anyway, it might be difficult to make the change, but to be fair, Karegar knows his stuff and I’ll definitely be following this tip.
