Color Elixirs, €9.69, Maybelline

Pucker up, you pretty, pretty people!

There’s nothing better than a beauty bargain, and coming in at less than a tenner these new Color Elixirs from Maybelline give plenty of bang for your buck, or pout for your pennies, even though they look quite expensive. Luxury for less!
The experts tell us there’s two levels of colour, thanks to a ‘double-phase technology’ combining two separate modules.

Phase one is application as normal, sweeping your lips with a caring balm infused with bright pigments. Step two is a little more extraordinary, as an oil formula of minute particles rises to the surface and floats above the colour phase. The idea is that this formula creates a lasting shine and protects your colour.

But enough about the technology… do they work? Suffice to say the Her.ie office is converted. Maybe it’s Maybelline.

Argan Oil Range, from €6.50, The Body Shop

Beauty fads and hot ingredients come and go. It’s a number of years ago now since the buzz around Argan Oil began, and it hasn’t gone away. That, most likely, is because it works. Now, the lovely people at The Body Shop have gone and brought out a range inspired by and including the miracle oil. A number of years ago this particular writer visited Morocco, where the wild Argan tree grows, and brought home a full bottle of the raw stuff – and still bemoans the day it was finally used up. Used in hammam beauty rituals to protect and nourish locals’ skin and hair from the harsh Saharan winds and fierce sun, argan oil is rich in essential fatty acids including linoleic acid (Omega 6), and natural tocopherols.

There are a whopping nine products in the new Body Shop range, which starts at a very reasonable €6.50, and everything comes in under €20. to get you started, we recommend the scrub and the body butter – divine!
