The Saturdays star Vanessa White has spoken out about her struggle with alcohol, which threatened her career in the past.

Vanessa told The Sun’s magazine Fabulous that she was out every night when her bandmates Rochelle, Una, Frankie and Mollie were in serious long-term relationships.

She said: ‘My life started to spin out of control in 2010 and it was a dreadful year. I’d be out every night.’

‘I drank vodka mainly but, to be honest, I drank anything. It massively affected the band and I felt lonely and depressed.’

Vanessa was a party animal when the band started out

Near the end of 2011, Vanessa stayed with fellow band member Rochelle for two weeks and didn’t drink, which proved to be a massive turning point.

The 24-year-old songstress said she stopped partying when her colleagues advised her to take it easy and cut back on alcohol.

She has been staying in instead of going out this January and has taken up yoga and pilates in a bid to get healthy.

‘I’ve taken up a new hobby instead, exercising. I’ve become obsessed with yoga and Pilates, I love it, it’s so relaxing. It’s so addictive,’ said the singer who has been dating Gary Satler since 2011.
