Laura Lavigne is a life coach who founded the Anacortes Center for Happiness.
She is also responsible for setting up ‘happiness sprinkling groups’ throughout the US and Canada.
The concept is simple but effective with the groups holding simple black and white signs proclaiming messages such as “you rock”, “be you” and “you are loved.”
The first project was held in May 2012 and has touched 40 cities since then.
Laura is constantly thinking of new ways to promote the concept and plans to bring it to Italy next.

The project has become very popular over the past two years
“It’s just plain joy for the sake of joy,” she says.
“I think we all walk around with worry and questions,” Lavigne told the Huffington Post. “Sometimes just a stranger coming up to you with those words out of nowhere can shift us.”
59-year-old Susan Shields missed her town’s sprinkling as she was battling cancer. She asked if another one could be organised and so the town of Ames in Iowa held another event.
Shields attended the second sprinkling event holding a sign which read “life is good.”
She died shortly after, according to Laura but the project continues to spread her message and “life is good” is a permanent sign at every meeting.
