Today Jim Carrey turns 52. It has been twenty years since we fell in love with him in classic hits such as ‘The Mask’, ‘Ace Venture’ and ‘Dumb and Dumber’, all of which came out in 1994. We can’t speak for Jim but that has us feeling quite old.
Carrey has always been known as one of the funniest men in Hollywood, however has shone in more serious roles like the black comedy movie, The Cable Guy and one of our favourite Carrey films ever, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
He’s not just a funny a guy – In the past the actor has openly spoke about his mental health issue and advocates to reverse the stigma attached to the issue, admitting to taking Prozac for a long time while battling depression.
“It may have helped me out of a jam for a little bit, but people stay on it forever. I had to get off at a certain point because I realised that, you know, everything’s just okay.”
“There are peaks, there are valleys. But they’re all kind of carved and smoothed out, and it feels like a low level of despair you live in.”
