Today, after spending his entire life in Crumlin Children’s Hospital, Liam Mc An Tsaoi, finally moved a little closer to home.

The three-year-old Galway boy, who was born prematurely at 23 weeks, suffers from chronic lung disease. Liam has been in an isolation unit for most of his life.

The campaign for Liam to be moved home first came to the nation’s attention on Liveline when his mother Louise made a plea for help to get the little boy home for Christmas.

His mother Louise told RTE News that she “couldn’t wait to start a new life with him.”

RTE reported that Louise and her husband had been taking it in turns to go to Dublin to be by the boy’s side. Following a long campaign, the HSE agreed a nursing and home care package.

After Liam settles in UHG, he will be able to make regular visits to his family home.
