Actor Evan Jonigkeit has revealed that he was cast to play Toad in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The actor confirmed his role to MTV News. Toad was last seen in the 2000 X-Men film when Ray Park played the villainous character.

“I read a lot of the comic books” said Evan, who’s keeping tip-lipped about the look of the mutant.

“I found out the storyline of my character, who is Toad. X-Men fans will know that Ray Park played him in the first movie, so it’s a generation story of how he came to be. It’s really cool.”

It’s a really incredible thing to be a part of,” he said. “[‘Days of Future Past’] is huge and really exciting. I was so stoked to be working with all of these people. It was a really crazy experience.”

The reintroduction of Toad could be seen as a rather interesting step, and may be an indication that Michael Fassbender’s Magneto will be establishing the famous Brotherhood of Evil Mutants in the sequel.

The Marvel film is to on the big screen on May 23rd of this year and has an all-star cast that includes Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore and Peter Dinklage.
