Top tips for colouring your hair at home
• As skin tone goes darker in the summer months, choose your hair colour a shade or two lighter to enhance that summer glow. Many colourists advise clients to go darker and warmer in winter to compensate for flat winter light and duller complexions. Make up should be altered to suit your hair colour.
• As women get older, taking the hair colour a shade or two lighter may give a more youthful, illuminating appearance, softening the appearance of lines and shadows.
• Jonathan Long recommends that you should stay within two or three shades lighter or darker than your natural colour for best results.
Choosing a new hair colour can be tricky. nice‘n easy have some advice for you before you take that step…
Choosing the ‘one’ that’s right for you
• If your skin tone is ‘cool’ with fair skin and light coloured eyes of blue, green or grey then go for ashy tones and mahogany brunettes and avoid warm or golden hair colours. Very dark colour can wash out your skin colour, if you have pale skin and light eyes.
• A ‘warm’ skin tone of golden skin and brown or hazel eyes suits golden tones and warm brunettes really well. Avoid ash-toned colours.
