Pregnancy And Plus-Size Models The Same Thing? According To This Retailing Company They Are

The retailers have been forced to apologise, calling it an "error."

It appears that mainstream retailing outlets are still finding things difficult when it come to plus-size clothing.

American retailing company, Target, has been forced to apologise and remove a product categorised as plus-size from its website after being inundated with complaints that the garment was actually being modelled by a pregnant lady.

The outlet was pulled on the matter after an online customer spotted a maternity model wearing Merona’s ladies plus-size maxi dress on the company’s website and flagged the issue.

The photos have since been removed from the site and the only remaining information on the page is the dress description.

A Target representative contacted the Huffington Post to”apologise” and explained the image was an error due an item at the photo shoot being “mislabeled.”

“We apologize for any discomfort or offense this error might have caused. As soon as we were made aware of the error, we worked to remove the image from Target.com. This error was completely unintentional and the result of an unfortunate oversight. We appreciate the error being called to our attention and will work hard to ensure something like this doesn’t happen again.”

This isn’t the first time the retailing giant received backlash over a plus-size labelling issue.

Last year online customers spotted this issue with grey plus-size dress described as “Manatee Gray”, while the same dress in standard sizes was titled, “Dark Heather Gray”.
