Met Éireann Have Predicted A Wet And Windy Start To 2014

Met Éireann have forecast wet and wind for the next couple of days as New Year’s Eve celebrations get under way.

Forecaster Vincent O’Shea added: “Around the country it is going to be very showery.

“There will be downpours especially in coastal areas in Munster and the West.

“It’s going to turn very wet and windy overnight into New Year’s Day.

“We can expect rain and heavy winds with the southern half of the country faring worst.

It looks set to be a wet and windy start to January 

“It doesn’t look stormy in terms of winds and it doesn’t look like it will be frosty but rain would be the problem.”

According to the ESB, the storms on December 26 and 27 were the worst the country has seen in years.

Black ice also caused very dangerous driving conditions yesterday as Gardai reported three road accidents in 180 minutes.
