There are so many films on over the Christmas period that we thought we might help you out and pick some of the best from across the important days. Mainly the days that you will be at home and stuck in front of a television screen. Here are some of our favourites.
1. Emma, BBC2, 12.05pm
Another Jane Austen classic, Emma is an exploration of a young woman’s life, the values she has and her quest for true love and the true love of others.
2. Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit, BBC1, 1.05pm
Some of the best loved characters that have ever graced the silver screen are Wallace and Gromit. The Curse of the Were Rabbit is both brilliant and hilariously funny and deserves a watch, or indeed a re-watch. The duo are out to discover who is behind the garden sabotage.
3. Jingle All The Way, Sky Christmas, 2.45pm
An Arnie classic, this is one of the most hilarious films you will see over the Christmas season that doesn’t even intend to be. He just wants a Turbo Man doll.
4. Superman, RTE2, 3,20pm
The 1978 classic, was there ever a better Superman than Christopher Reeves?
5. Independence Day, Channel 4, 6.20pm
Will Smith, Aliens, an attack on Washington. What more do you want here?
6. Iron Man 3, Sky Premiere, 8pm
One of the biggest films from 2013 was the return of Iron Man. Following the attack on New York and the Avengers, Tony Stark suffers from nightmares, lack of sleep and begins to question his beliefs and whether he is able to save the world.
7. Skyfall, Sky Movies Action, 8pm
The last Bond was undoubtedly one of the best, the return of Craig, a way more damaged Bond who is again tasked with saving the nation, was certainly a more interesting take on the Bond series.
8. The Guard, RTE1, 9.20pm
A Brendan Gleeson classic, the Guard follows the life of one brilliant Garda who is out to discover who is behind one of the biggest drug busts of the year.

9. The Social Network, RTE2, 10pm
Arguably one of David Fincher’s finest, the Social Network follows the beginning fo Facebook and the life of one Mark Zuckerberg. An excellent script and some brilliant acting make this one of the best picks for today.
10. Man on Fire, Film 4, 10.45pm
If you are looking for one of the best revenge films ever, this is it. Denzel Washington stars as a bodyguard who has the child he looks after kidnapped on his watch. Emotional, heartbreaking and just action-packed, Man on Fire is a completely underrated masterpiece.
