11-year-old Jean Fernandes risked his life to save a dog hit by a car, according to Brazilian news site Guarda-Sol.
Jean, from Brazil, rushed to rescue the dog who was left injured on the road when the driver who allegedly struck him drove off.
Globo Rural, a Brazilian news outlet, reports that Jean ran in between oncoming vehicles to rescue the animal.

Jean’s mother, Rubia Liliana Rose, said that her son loves animals and will rescue ones he finds abandoned or abused.
The incident was captured by photographer Rafaela Martins and it drew praise from the public after Brazil’s News Agency of Animal Rights shared the story on its Facebook page on Monday.

According to BioBioChile, the dog identified as Honey, or Mel in Portuguese, is still in the care of vets at a local animal rescue centre but is doing well.
