Twenty Films We Are Really Looking Forward To In 2014… Part 2

There's quite the list...

Sue Murphy

We already brought you part one of the top twenty films for 2014 to watch out for, but the list was so long we had to split it into two parts. Here are the remaining films from the twenty to look forward to in 2014.

11. 22 Jump Street

If you have seen 21 Jump Street, you will need no introduction to the second film. Suffice to say that both Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are back and acting the maggot once again. Let’s remember that last one together…

12. Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Captain America was actually one of the lead-in stories to the Avengers which was pretty good. The Winter Soldier follows Captain America as he tries to adjust to life in the modern world and a new enemy.

13. The Monuments Men

We have to say, this all looks a bit mental but the fact that the Monuments Men was pulled just before Oscar season doesn’t exactly bode well. Directed by George Clooney and starring the likes of Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman and Cate Blanchett, we’re not really sure if this could go wrong. The story follows a platoon who are tasked with rescuing art pieces from some Nazi thieves. Like we said, a bit mental but excellent.

14. Jupiter Ascending

Jupiter Ascending, directed by the Wachowskis, follows the life of a woman in a dystopic society who is sought out by the Queen of the Universe, a Queen who is threatened by her very existence. The film stars Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum, but it certainly looks like it could be an interesting piece.

15. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1

There are two more Hunger Games films in store for us and all we have to say is THANK GOD! The wonderful Jennifer Lawrence makes a return as Katniss, who is now the leader of a rebellion. We can’t wait for the concluding films in the Hunger Games.

16. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Andy Serkis is back in the follow-up to surprise hit Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The timeline has moved forward ten years and follows a fragile peace that now exists between the apes and the humans, a peace which will not last long.

17. Under the Skin

One of the surprise films to cause a fuss in Cannes this year was the eerie Under the Skin which stars Scarlett Johannsson as an alien seductress who hunts down hitchhikers in Scotland.

18. Maleficent

Jolie is back and evil as can be in the re-work of Sleeping Beauty that focusses more on the evil woman of the piece, the queen Maleficent. We’ve seen a trailer, this looks absolutely amazing.

19. Out of the Furnace

The cast for this is nothing less than magnificent, Christian Bale, Casey Affleck and Zoe Saldana. The story follows Rodney Baze who takes the law into his own hands in order to find his brother who has gone missing.

20. Non-Stop

Liam Neeson is BACK in action as an air marshall who needs to jump into action aboard an international flight. Julianne Moore also stars, but that’s not really important. What is important is that this is Taken Part 3… on a plane… technically.
