Twelve Things We Have Learned From Christmas Specials

Oh, we love a good Christmas special...

Sue Murphy

The definition of a Christmas special is pretty much any programme which runs in and around Christmas and likes to features lots of startling events with new characters, including trains. Basically, we have learned our lesson about ever leaving our house during Christmas because of these shows. Here are eleven things we have learned from Christmas specials.

1. Death may happen.

At any time… Even in random shops.

2. Someone will leave.

They will literally just up and leave.

3. However, someone will always return.

Like Arnie, they will constantly be back…

4. There will be a massive speech in a public location.

It might be the Rovers Return, it may be the Queen Vic. It will be somewhere.

i'll be back

5. An affair will be revealed.

We, as viewers, have known about this affair since, well, August.

6. Someone will find out they’re pregnant.

Or better yet, someone will find out they have a child they never knew existed.

7. There’s always a Scrooge.

Ah, there’s always one

8. There’s always someone drinking on their own.

Poor pets.

9. Christmas will always be saved.

Usually by Alfie Moon to be fair.

10. Someone will always get a present they’re not expecting.

Mysterious present under the tree you say.

11. Someone will go into labour.

It’s Christmas, it’s only the most inconvenient time of the year for everything to work normally.

12. A wedding over Christmas will never have a happy ending.

If the wedding even happens at all.
