Kierston Warning, who plays Kirsty Branning on the show, has said she is happy to be written out and won’t miss any of her co-stars except for June Brown, who plays Dot Cotton.
37-year-old Kierston arrived in Eastenders last Christmas just as her husband Max was about to get married to his ex-wife Tanya (complicated, we know).
Kierston will be on screen until 2014 but the actress maintains she is happy to be leaving the popular show.
“I didn’t believe in any of the storylines,” she says. “I wanted more of a range. It wasn’t believable – why would Kirsty keep chasing Max when he’s got a load of baggage? It’s just ridiculous.

“She was a wet drip by the end of it. When I joined the show there were layers to it – ‘Is she nice? Is she not nice?’. I had all these ideas. I wanted it to be really gritty but no one wanted to do anything like that.”
Last month saw Kirsty lie about being pregnant with Max’s baby, another storyline Kierston found unconvincing.
“I didn’t believe in the fake pregnancy either,” she says. “You are talking about a man with experience. It’s ridiculous.”
