I’m A Celebrity – Joey Essex Subjected To Worst Bushtucker Trial Yet

We can't say we envy him...

Having held his nerve through previous Bush Tucker trials, Joey Essex shows signs of fear on last night’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here when he was forced to enter The Cavern Of Claws.

This task sees the contestant locked into a cave with rats, maggots and cockroaches.

As Joey prepared for his Bush Tucker Trial, he asked fellow campmate Vincent Simone: ‘Do you want to swap?

‘No, I got panic attacks when they already mentioned me,’ said Vincent.  ‘It was going to be either me or Joey. You don’t want to know how it feels to be in that situation,’ Vincent told the Bush Telegraph.

‘Talk about pressure. There’s twelve campmates now and there’s going to be twelve stars,’ said Joey.

Joey found this particular Bush Tucker trial harder than the others

‘It’s well hard, you can’t see nothing,’ he said halfway through the trial.

‘Oh mate, it’s biting my middle parts. It’s going up my trousers,’ he shrieked. ‘This is not reem. This is definitely not reem. This is definitely, 100% not reem,’ Joey said as the insects and rats continued to crawl all over him.

Doing better than he expected, Joey managed to get eight stars, “I’m pleased. i did a  lot better than I thought.”

On returning to camp, his fellow campmates were full of praise with Annabel saying, “well done. You’re a heroic.”

The put-upon contestant was later forced to undertake another Bush Tucker trial but in typical Joey fashion he passed with flying colours.

From spiders, ants, maggots and baby crocodiles; he had a lot to endure but it seems Joey is already been touted as the jungle king of this year’s show.
