2013 was a great year for gaming, not only did we see fantastic releases but we also saw the launch of two snazzy new consoles. You know what that means? Even more games we can look forward to next year!
Gamers at the ready. Here are some of the titles that we’re most looking forward to next year (that have been announced).
Destiny
Platform: PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One
The new action game from the creators of Halo and Call of Duty is due to make its way onto game consoles in 2014 and it looks quite pretty. Taking place in a “mythic science-fiction” open-world setting, the first-person shooter was demoed live at Sony’s E3 2013 conference.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
Platform: PS4, Xbox360
The largely successful Final Fantasy series is to get another title with the return of FFXIII protagonist Lightning. Lightning Returns is the direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII-2, and part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis: Final Fantasy series which is intended to end the trilogy.
Tying up loose ends, according to Square Enix, the game will feature “a brand-new story, world, characters, and an enhanced gameplay system”.

Dark Souls II
Platform: PC, PS3, Xbox360
The sequel to the hugely popular Dark Souls is to be released next year, though Hidetaka Miyazaki, who served as director on Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls, will not return. However he will be acting as a supervisor so we still expect great things!

The action RPG will have an open-world format and is expected to be packed with action and emotion.
Kingdom Hearts III
Platform: PS4, XboxOne
Developed by Square Enix and published by Disney Interactive Studios, the long-awaited Kingdom Hearts III is finally going to be released in 2014. We cannot wait!

The RPG will see Sora once again zipping around worlds and also see the return of Riku, Donald Duck, Goofy, and King Mickey, as well as some other familiar Disney characters.
Titanfall
Platform: PS3
This debut game from Respawn Entertainment, stole the show at E3 last year, scooping up E3 Critic Award and Best of Show. Players fight as mech-style armour with their pilots, in an online multiplayer world that’s fast-paced and full of action.

Respawn has described the game as bringing “scale, verticality, and story” to first-person shooter multiplayer gaming. It’s set for a March release.
Mario Kart 8
Platform: Wii U
Like the many instalments before it, the game will follow traditional gameplay BUT with a focus on an “anti-gravity” section which allows racers to float around and drive on walls. Nifty! Regular Mario characters will feature in the battle of the races too.
