This is a generous gesture

Victoria and David Beckham have sold off some of their best-known designer outfits to support the British Red CrossDrop for the Philippines.

The donations include the matching outfits the couple wore to the 2006 Venice Film Festival, a number of David’s baseball caps and 100 pairs of Victoria’s shoes.

A successful fashion designer who is now running her own brand, Victoria said: ‘Typhoon Haiyan has devastated the Philippines, killing thousands and leaving hundreds of thousands homeless.

‘The British Red Cross is now carrying out an enormous humanitarian relief project to help all those people in desperate need.

These matching outfits will be sold off

‘David and I are supporting the Red Cross Shop Drop for the Philippines campaign and we urge everyone in Britain to do the same.  Everyone has something in their closet they were holding onto, a dress, suit, or pair of shoes they thought they might wear again, dig them out, bag them up, drop them off and give someone else the chance to buy them, raising much needed funds for the Red Cross aid effort. Thank you.’

The items will go on sale at the Kensington and Chelsea branch of the  British Red Cross in London this Friday.

This particular shop specialises in designer clothing and the money raised will go to help those affected by Typhoon Haiyan.
