Ashton Kutcher was photographed bringing his dying dog to an animal hospital yesterday alongside girlfriend Mila Kunis.
The 35-year-old carried his pet in his arms, wrapped up in a coat.
Visibly distressed, The Guardian actor explained to waiting paparazzi that he was bringing the pet to be put down.
Mila and Ashton adopted a rescue dog last year and have been seen walking it regularly over the past year but it is not yet known how long the actor has had the dying dog.

The couple are reportedly planning a wedding in Kensington Palace, London after becoming attached to the city in recent months.
30-year-old Mila has been filming her new movie Jupiter Ascending in the capital city.
Close friends of Princess Beatrice, the couple are said to be planning an intimate wedding.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: ‘They both adored Kate and William’s wedding and wanted to do something similar for themselves. They don’t want a big flashy wedding but they liked the idea of marrying somewhere historic like a castle.
‘But then Princess Beatrice suggested the Orangery at Kensington Palace and Mila and Ashton think it’s the perfect setting.
‘They want a small ceremony in front of just a few family and friends.’
Plans will have to wait until Ashton is officially divorced from his ex-wife Demi Moore which has been held up due to reported settlement issues.
