New Service Offers Bespoke Cancer And Medical Hair Loss Treatments

Cathy Donohue

My New Hair is a service offering bespoke cancer and medical hair loss treatments to women.

Founded by leading international hair care expert Trevor Sorbie MBE after his sister-in-law was diagnosed with cancer, the My New Hair programme is designed to give hair professionals essential training and education.

Aidan Fitzgerald and his team have opened up a private Wig Boutique at their Blackrock salon.

They join 300 professional hairdressers who are offering their services to patients who are suffering from medical hair loss. This list includes other notable industry names including Andrew Collinge, Mark Hill, Andrew Mulvenna, and Charles Worthington.

Not only did Aidan’s team receive wig fitting and training from Trevor Sorbie himself, they also attended a communications workshop run by cancer nurses from The Communications Equation Ltd.

My New Hair aims to restore the confidence of anyone experiencing hair loss. Aware that this can be one of the most devastating effects of cancer, Aidan and his specialised team work closely with the individual to source a wig that is close to their real hair as possible.

The video below describes the experiences of two women and how this service helped them to regain their confidence.

The team study the client’s ‘before’ photographs ahead of the initial consultation before the fitting, cutting and styling of the wig takes place in the private Wig Boutique.

Aidan is affiliated with the Irish Cancer Society and his services provides both real hair and monofibre wigs.

Interestingly, doctors recommend the monofibre wigs as they are as they are easy to care for, hold their style and require far less time in after care treatments.

Prices start from €450 and for more information contact the salon at (01) 2886479 or aidanfitz1@
