Tributes have been pouring in for beloved mum Sarah Montgomery, who was tragically murdered in Co. Down.

Mum-of-two Sarah Montgomery was found seriously injured in the Elmfield Walk area of Donaghadee on June 28th.

Emergency services were called to the scene, but the 27-year-old was sadly pronounced dead.

She has been remembered as “a kind and wonderful mother.”

The team at Donaghadee Lifeboat paid tribute: “Sarah was a highly regarded member of our fundraising branch here at Donaghadee RNLI, regularly attending and helping out at fundraising and station events to support the lifesaving work of the charity.”

First Minister Michelle O’Neill paid tribute to Sarah Montgomery.

“A young woman with her whole life ahead of her, taken in the most devastating way. Another family left shattered. Two children left without their mummy.”

She also called for an end to violence against women and girls.

“Ending violence against women and girls must be a priority for every single person right across our society. We all have a role to play in ending the scourge of misogyny and violence.”

Police confirmed a 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody.

A woman, believed to be in her 40s, was also arrested as part of the investigation.

However, reports confirm she has since been released.

According to the BBC, the woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, but she has been released “unconditionally.”
